Dog Anal Creampie

If your pup has been pulling their bottom on the carpet and licking their anus excessively, this could be an indicator that their anal glands are having issues. This can be very uncomfortable and often leads to aggressive behavior when their anal glands become blocked with saliva or fluid from being filled up too fast.

Experienced veterinarians should examine this area of your pet’s body. He or she can ascertain what is causing his discomfort, such as anal gland clogs that result in abscesses that require being opened under general anesthesia for expulsion of pus.

Most commonly, dogs have difficulty expressing their anal glands after defecation. In this instance, Metamucil or another source of fiber in their food twice daily may help their bodies express more easily by bulking up poop so it becomes easier for them to express anal glands.

If your dog is experiencing problems with her anal glands not expressing and it is making them very uncomfortable or even painful, it is wise to visit the vet as soon as possible so they can prescribe some medication that will provide relief. Furthermore, make sure they remain up to date on deworming medications to help avoid anal gland clogs from occurring in future.
